To speak the truth can be difficult to some because the truth might be harder to handle. Everyday we go through a path of Yes and No that alters the outcome. By speaking the harsh truth and giving the answer 'No' we can benefit that its the truth and can resolve that No into a Yes later on in the future. But by telling a lie and getting an answer Yes it can later drastically affect your future by believing that to be the only truth and nothing more to it. Students of any high school fight for their position and will try anything to fit in, by giving the lie of Yes the students are putting themselves into troubles that can affect their lives later on. From personal experience many students will try to fit by doing recreational drugs to be 'in' the crowd and it all starts with this word that fails to escape the adolescent mind 'Yes.'
By just stating the truth and saying 'No' and trying not to please anyone, each individual has the power to have total control of their lives. Mistakes like these can lead the adolescent to gang wars, overdose on drugs, or just being under the influence. What happened to the truth? Why can't we just simply tell the truth? Many of us are just too afraid to handle the truth, many high school students just want to be accepted and by pretending to be somebody completely different they believe they can achieve acceptance from their peers. The high school students turned out to be slaves to their own existence.
But by stating that all high school students are slaves to their own existence is false because the entire student has a choice to face the harsh truth and move on or live with the false identity they created to be accepted by their peers. Many do believe that the opinion of others is far more important thus by giving the fake answer of 'Yes.' Telling a lie to get away from the consequences is the most cowardly thing to do, facing the harsh truth and meeting the consequence head to head is the path to choose. We are only human so telling a white lie here and there won't hurt anyone, but by constantly saying 'Yes' while the conscious wants to say 'No' the individual is only hurting themselves.
A perfect quote to write about. It's a problem many have faced, not only in high school but everywhere else. This quote doesn't just apply to drugs but it is one of the biggest areas where many follow due to the popular culture—trends. The phrase, we are slaves to our existence, just sticks in your head because it is true; Who we are is a product of many influences we have encountered all of our life. But we still have the control of our lives if we become independent. Great post :)
ReplyDeleteHey my dude your post is off the hook bro, its true that we have difficulties in making the choice to lie or not, even if it helps you or someone. I totally agree with your post and i see how your starting to use my people in this huh. Man i really liked it though, keep up the bad work!
ReplyDeleteJoon, i have to say i was expecting something music related. However, i did enjoy you look on the choice between Yes and No. The one thing i can say however is what if telling the truth is saying yes? Yes in the sense of drugs is true because it is never good to say yes to that but when a Yes is in order. Be sure to say it if it is the truth. All in all i enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeleteJoon I liked your post and I do agree on the fact that when people lie they do hurt themselves. By this I mean when people lie alot they become identified with the lies and start to belieave these lies to be true forever shapping their perception on reality and what is the fact. This is what I think Ganhdi ment.
ReplyDeleteThat was a pretty interesting piece to read. You're right that sometimes saying no is better than telling a lie just to avoid conflict. It's something we should all do more often. But I believe that sometimes, even if it's obvious what the answer is, it's better to just let things be with a little fantasy. At any rate great job Joon and I hope to read more!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your blog, people always have the decision to make, nothing is made for them, but sometimes they end up getting swayed by people in the popular crowd to do things that go against their persona, they're just victims to drugs, great post by the way man, keep it up!
